Award Ceremony of TKK Science Awards and TKK Young Scientist Awards Held in Beijing on June 11st, 2014

  On June 11st, 2014, the award ceremony of Tan Kah Kee Science Awards(TKK Science Awards) and Tan Kah Kee Young Scientist Awards(TKK Young Scientist Awards) 2014 is held in Beijing, at the 17th General Assembly of Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) and the 12th General Assembly of Chinese Academy of Engineering(CAE). The awards are presented by Chinese Vice Premier LIU Yandong with CAS President BAI Chunli and CAE President ZHOU Ji.

Leaders and representatives from CAS, CAE, Bank of China (BOC), National Natural Science Foundation of China(NSFC), China Association for Science and Technology(CAST), National Office for Science and Technology Awards(NOSTA) and the United Front Work Department of Xiamen Municipal Committee etc, attend the ceremony.

Awardees of TKK Science Awards 2014:

  1. WANG Enge, professor of Peking University, wins the Tan Kah Kee Science Award in Mathematics and Physics for his innovative work on “Microscopic structure and property of liquid and solid water in confinement ”.
  2. LIN Guoqiang, professor of Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, CAS, wins the Tan Kah Kee Science Award in Chemistry for his innovative work on “Method Innovation on studies of chiral chemistry”.
  3. XU Guoliang, professor of Shanghai Institutes of Biological Sciences, CAS, wins the Tan Kah Kee Science Award in Life Sciences for his innovative work on “The role and mechanism of DNA oxidation in epigenetic regulation of mammalian development”.
  4. WU Guoxiong, professor of Institute of Atmospheric Physics, CAS, wins the Tan Kah Kee Science Award in Earth Sciences for his innovative work on “Impacts of the dynamic and thermodynamic forcing of Tibetan-Plateau on Asian summer monsoon onset and climate formation”.
  5. YOU Xiaohu, professor of Southeast University, wins the Tan Kah Kee Science Award in Information Technical Sciences for his innovative work on “Capacity-approaching transmission and distributed radio network for broadband mobile communications”.
  6. SHEN Baogen, HU Fengxia and SUN Jirong, professors of Institute of Physics, CAS, win the Tan Kah Kee Science Award in Technological Sciences, for their innovative work on “Discovery of La(Fe,Si)13-based magnetocaloric materials and study on related scientific problems”.

Awardees of TKK Young Scientist Awards 2014:

  1. SUN Binyong, professor of the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, CAS, wins the Tan Kah Kee Young Scientist Award in Mathematics and Physics for his innovative work on “Progresses on infinite dimensional representation theory of classical groups ”.
  2. LIU Lei, professor of Tsinghua University, wins the Tan Kah Kee Young Scientist Award in Chemistry for his innovative work on “Protein chemical synthesis”.
  3. WANG Jun, professor of BGI, wins the Tan Kah Kee Young Scientist Award in Life Sciences for his innovative work on “A study of "gut microbial gene catalogue" and its relationship with the type 2 diabetes”.
  4. LI Xuelong, professor of Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics of CAS, wins the Tan Kah Kee Young Scientist Award in Information Technical Sciences for his innovative work on “Matrix decomposition for big visual data analysis”.
  5. ZHENG Hairong, professor of Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, CAS, wins the Tan Kah Kee Young Scientist Award in Technological Sciences for his innovative work on “Acoustic manipulation and elastography imaging system”.
